How long after submitting your papers does it take to hear from the board? If approved, how much longer does it take to get out? Can you use up your time
whilest you are waiting? How much will you get fvcked with? Are you entitled to terminal?
Gracias.

You will get a board date as soon as your medical folder is prepared by your nurse. Give her a copy of every medical visit, so you get a date fast. If you do
get approved at the medical board, start burning your time. It will be about three months before your minutes go in front of the pension board. Your folder is
prepared by your nurse, so be very good to her. The board reads what the nurse outlines from your medical visits to docs and hospitals. PM for anything else

I was retired within 6 months. The surgeon put my papers in, 3 months later I had my medical board and 2 months later my pension board. Granted my injury was
almost 5 years old by the time I went before the medical board.

the surgeon told me to put my papers in, at the time it was 7 months from the time i got hurt, he told me they would never put me back full duty and that they
would automaticly put my papers in if i was restricted for a year so why wait, i put my papers in i had a board date rather quickly the sgt there that does the
scheduling said they wanted to get rid of me, got approved by the medical board n had to wait 4 months for the pension board, since my medical was in july and
they dont work in august my paperwork was held up an extra month, you are entitled to a terminal which starts after you leave the pension section when you get
your numbers,,, use up your time if you've been approved by the medical board, and when they ask you at the pension section when you want your last day say
the end of the current month,,,,,if you have 2 months terminal, if you waive it your tax free money starts all the quicker. i think i used 2 weeks terminal and
retired on the 31st. n you will be very pleased with your numbers,,its not 3/4's of your final year,,,they do it like a regular pension,,,so in my case my
last year i made no ot at all, so they used my best 3 consectutive. it payed to be an overtime $%%+%

Which years the pension section uses to figure out your numbers all depends on when you came OTJ. NYCNYC is correct some MOS (me included) where able to use 3 consecutive years. But MOS who came on after I believe it was 2001 or 2002 the pension section uses your last year OTJ. Which can really suck because most if not all MOS on restricted DO NOT make OT while on medical restricted. |

At 4 something a gallon for gas, monthly Dr bills, therapy and medication, being out for a significant time now, it's getting close to the time I'm
going to have to find a local part time job. 3/4th's sounds good till you've been out for a while and the cost of live goes up but your pay
doesn't. Then again my pay never seemed to go up while i was still OTJ either. I could have my wife get a 2nd job and send the kids into slave labor.

ImOut3qtrs wrote:As for your pay going up, after 5 years you will get COLA money. COLA starts out at 180.00 a year minimum and goes up depending on the cost of living. I've been out many years and my increase has been over 25%. Now depending on your injury and mental condition you might be able to get SSD. It can be a fight, like with the medical and pension board, but if you don't try you will never know. I know many guys who got disabilty from the department and then with a good lawyer were able to get SSD. Both getting 3/4 and SSD is like the lottery, you have to be in it to win it. my computer, my opinion and if you don't like what I post, don't read my posts. |

SS and the pension its almost 3,000 a week tax free. I'm sure this will be ok for a few more years and I'm still in my 30's

One last thing - when you're getting out 3/4s, you're entitled to your entire years vacation, even if you're approved on January 1, as opposed to a
regular separation where you're entitled to accrued vacation time. Don't let some ICO try and weasel you out of your time.
Outlined against a blue-gray October sky, the Four Horsemen rode again. In dramatic lore they are known as Famine,
Pestilence, Destruction and Death. These are only aliases. Their real names are Stuhldreher, Miller, Crowley and Layden. They formed the crest of the South
Bend cyclone before which another fighting Army football team was swept over the precipice at the Polo Grounds yesterday afternoon as 55,000 spectators peered
down on the bewildering panorama spread on the green plain below. - Grantland Rice 1924

A cop that was shot 5 times with three different weapons, and still carries around a bullet in his spine. He was working as a gas attendant in
the 103 and the 113 for seven or eight years till they finally gave him three quarters. Of course the there was a little politics and Rat Squad action
involved.
Remember Cardillo Better to be judged by twelve then carried by six. The rat squad are a bunch of cowards. |
