1) You still have to go before the Grand Jury and testify about your actions. This shooting is pretty cut and dried, but believe me when I tell you the District Attorney will have a copy of that interview and don't think for a second inadvertant discrepancies may be problematic. Also this clown that was shot despite being, "mutt of the year" will more than likely find some lawyer with no qualms about suing down the road. To them it's free money, just type up some affadavits on some toilet paper and pow, you're in court trying to keep shithead from taking your house. Just wait till you're out of the woods, there's no rush. You can post your exploits right here on "Thee Rant" if you want exposure.
2) The Daily News would like to see itself as some sort of expert on police shootings when they don't know sh*t. By allowing yourself to be interviewd by them you give them a kind of legitimacy in this area. Now, sure this is a great shooting, right? But lets now think about the next shooting that the cop does not want to speak to Mike Daly. I feel it could give them the opportunity to say that Officer Smith spoke to us but Officer Jones refuses, what is he hiding? The fact that Mike Daly got ahold of Lt. Abrahall so quickly would suggest he has some sort of relationship with Daly. There's nothing wrong with that, and Abrahall did a good job, but I don't feel we should allow the Daily News to become some sort of expert that will let the public know what shootings are good and what shootings they feel are bad.
We all know what they did in the Bell case and to Lt. Pigott. Their irresponsible hysterics almost landed 3 of our guys in prison and set back race relations. Be smart, it's you that will have to go before the Grand Jury. Let the smoke clear, don't be in a hurry to get your face in the paper. It's happened to me a couple of times, and it's not as glamorous as you might think. Everyone knows who you are and you don't know them. They have your name and photo. With a little time on the computer they can be at your front door in hours.
Just be smart out there for your own sake and your family...
