while I appreciate your informed and intelligent response the fact remains that this law disproportianately and negatively impacts one group of citizens, the Police. I can count on 1 hand over the years that someone other than a Law Enforcement officer was forced to face federal charges after being aquitted in a state court. Yes it is the law but when it is used towards one group of people disproportianately it becomes discriminatory in nature. That is the point here. The Al Sharptons of the world have been screaming discrimination over the Rockerfeller Laws for years citing it disproportianately affects minorities and as such should be repealed as I think they are about to or already have done. This is part of our argument. I think that it should be decided prior to grand jury whether to try someone federally or by the state. They shouldnt get a do-over just because they do not like the outcome. In our case it seems only members of law enforcement seem to have to worry about being tried by both the state and the feds and as such is discriminatory in nature. This affects all of us as it could happen to any of us at anytime. Id much rather see the unions exploring that legal avenue as it directly relates to our freedom than guys ranting for pages and pages how this union pres or that union pres doesnt speak enough or how he should be posting flyers for other jobs. This affects our freedom and is \an important issue the unions should take up. The fact that cops cant even agree on how important this is is why this job is dead. We by our inactions allow ourselves to be steamrolled. You think the feds would be looking at the bell case if not for the loud mouth antics of the so-called black leadership of this city. We should take a page from their book and get loud mouthed about why members of OUR community are 100 times more likely to face federal charges in addition to state charges as compared to the general population. That is discriminatory and should anger enough of us to take action. However too many on here are too concerned with proving how smart they are in politics and every other crappy subject. This affects our freedom. It needs to be addressed.

There u have it, the defeatest attitude of police officers that has caused this job to become the way it is. Your confusing two things. There are plenty of times when the DA's office of the state will DEFER prosecution of a case to the feds because of any number of factors including a better chance of prosecution or other federal charges being more serious than the state charges. That occurs BEFORE a state trial begins and is not what I'm talking about. I'm talking about the specific times when someone is found not guilty in state court and because some jerkoff doesnt like the verdict they get tried again federally. That does not happen often if ever to regular citizens however it happens proportionately much more to law enforcement officers about 100 times more likley to LEO's than anyone else. Its funny cause this board was founded on the situation where a police officer was wrongly fired over pointing out security lapses at 1 police plaza. He fought hard and he fought long and in the end he got what he deserved to get, his pension. This is much more serious in that you are fighting for your freedom and equal protection undser the law. If it can be proven that a law and/or policy disproportionately affects a particular group of citizens in a negative way that is discrimination and the law would be struck down as unconstitutional. The fact that all anyone on this board wants to do is talk, talk and more talk and never stand up and take any action whatsoever is the problem I have. In my book if you dont stand up and act then shut your mouth and go suck your thumb becuase your useless.
