We are facing a 43% pay cut on March 1st. No other federal agency is facing cuts like this. Many agents will lose their houses and these cuts will ruin their families abilities to pay their bills. We have always been the political whipping boy due to the nature of criminals we arrest but these cuts will kill the agency. That very well maybe part of the governments new immigration plan but whatever the case might be, we need your help. If you could please sign this petition and forward it to everyone you know. I believe you'll should walk out for a massive sick out for a month. Would not that cause interesting repercussions? Congress should all be arrested for whatever we can pin on them and their lobbyist buddies. These turd heads are always using teachers & cops as political whipping boys. It must stop. I say let the FBI's Civil Rights division patrol the border. I don't think there are enough Depends Undergarments in supply for that to happen. Fug congress. May Nazi Pelosi and her buddies have unpleasant interactions with all those illegals while the USBP is out sick.

Really, are you saying that all USBP agents will be getting their salaries cut by 43%? I read something about a 30-32% cut in "premium pay" but even that was vague.

If they're going to cut your pay almost in half the cheese eaters are going to be some busy mutherfuckers, and in this case rightfully so. I don't know how it is now, but back in the 80s we had one of your guys come over to our job and the stories about that job would make a peep-show janitor stay where he is.

43% is the number. 25% AUO pay. 8% FLSA. 10% furlough.

I have to, unfortunately, agree with Squeal Man.

If these "cuts" go through (there's some belief that, despite the threats, whatever cuts go through will be minimal, if any; So far, the only thing mentioned is an agency getting, say, an 8% raise in their budget instead of 10 or 12%....not really a "cut"), the cuts in the overall "budget" will be the equivalent of $35 out of over $3000 in hand.

Having said that, I wouldn't put it past the Obama Administration to target anything that interferes with the smooth movement of the next voting bloc (Of both parties, I'm ashamed to admit) across the borders of the USA.

And if you think signing an on-line petition is going to make Obama...or any other politician...take his feet of the desk and pay attention, your naive.

It was done here around 1975. Look up that "Police Tapes" video on Youtube. At the Roll Call segment, the Sergeant is flipping through the clip board saying, "You all know about working 3 days for free.....", with some grumbling in the background.

With Obama's ability for occasionally "channeling" Ronald Reagan when it fits his needs, don't be surprised if he does the same thing that Ronnie did with the Air Traffic Controllers thoughout the nation: he fired them all, which would FURTHER Obama's and the Democrat's ultimate goal of Open Borders for the free-flow of new voters on public assistance, paid for, even if only for the short term, with the money saved from the fired Border Patrol Agents.

If they eliminate the Border Patrol then that would allow all the Border States to enforce the borders themselves. That is what they don't want Just imagine that for a second. Illegals shot and deported without regulation by the White House. No rubber bullets in Texas and Arizona I wouldn't be surprised if they started mining the border

March 1 has nothing to do with them losing 43% of their pay. March 1 is the furlough. Basically every branch of the government has a loss of budget and has to cut expenses. That measn feds taking a day off without pay. How many days depends on your agency and if they budgeted for it when it was announced last year. My agency did…..I am looking at 4 days between March 1 and October 1, with no work and no pay and you can't use a vacation day to cover the loss. We can take them at once or spead them out or wait till the end use them then if teh G doesn't fix the money. DOD has announced every employee will get 22. This happens with everyone, from every agency, and there is no law enforcement exemption. In addition, the way Obama drafted the legislation for such, any budget passed after you take your days means you will not get back pay. And in addition, every day off moves your retirement ahead by that many days.

This article is talking about something TOTALLY different. In fact the article is written very well most outside federal LE would not understand the point. The CBP/DHS has basically said, look, the OT is out of control and instead of paying you OT, also called AUO, we want to pay you LEAP. Right now they work an 8 hour day. Anything more from LEO activities = OT.

Most federal criminal investigators (FBI, USSS, OIG’s, DEA, ATF, etc…)don’t get OT. In fact, we are paid on a 8 hour day and are salaried at a flat rate. So far the same as BP. Unlike BP, our days are supposed to average 10 hours a work day at the end of the year. To compensate for those extra to hours a day, we get LEAP, or “Law Enforcement Availability Pay,” which is 25% of our base pay. So if you make $100K base, your LEAP is $25K, thus your total pay is $125K, which is paid over 26 work periods. Some days you work 8…some 10…some 14+. All depends on your workload and what you get into, but at the end of the year, you better have worked 10 hours a day average for every day you ended up working or they take a check back.

The only time we get OT is if the day was scheduled in advance for being over 10 hours…..like the UN when we do protection details and they are scheduled for 12 hours. On those days we get 2+ hours of OT depending on what we make.

They are not losing anything automatically like the article makes it sounds. They just don’t want to go to LEAP from hourly OT and are fighting it.

The state had something called "lag pay" back in the 90s where you worked for a certain number of days but wouldn't get paid until you retired. At the time it was considered not getting paid because, obviously, you weren't.

I don't care what kind of promise or magic act they try and pull, if you tell me my paycheck isn't going to reflect the time worked as far as I'm concerned you're screwing me out of my money. The operative word here is "work"...I may be there, but except for extenuating circumstances "work" is the last word you'd use to describe my presence.

You get what you pay for. Literally.

Actually we are losing it automatically per our chief Patrol Agent. We are going to be decertified of AUO pay March 1 so its eight and the gate march 1. We will be ordered back to the station prior to the end of our shift so if it takes me and hour and a half to get to my zone and a hour and a half for my relief to arrive before I can leave my zone and since they will require us to come in early so we can't make any late arrest, that does not leave much time to do any real work in a eight hour day. An the whole argument that our pay is out of control totally BS. The only reason CBP wants to high jack our auo is because CBP management is only paid base pay with no auo or leap. If they rob us of our AUO we just can't decided to take leap. Congress has to pass a law adding Patrol Agents to the law enforcement availability pay act and congress does not pass anything anymore. CBP management wants our auo to get our flsa so they can fund themselves a 25% raise. Do you think that is fair? Somebody who sits behind a desk who provides no service to the tax payers other than push paper around should get a raise off the backs of men who spend their days and nights by themselves on the mexican border dealing with third world narco terrorism every day? I sure as hell don't

Here's hoping that your union, or at least the overwhelming majority of agents, show politicians and the lackeys they refer to as "management" the error of their ways. Unfortunately, that usually means violating some rule somewhere because it will be necessary to go over their heads in order to talk to someone with an IQ above room temperature. Let the dimes drop where they may, you didn't make this sh*t sandwich and it's only right that the cook eats his own lunch.

You are half correct. The management does take very good care of themselves. My management just gave themselves a grade increase a few months ago so they will be making 20 to 30k more per year. But the people who go out and actually do the work of the USBP get crapped on every year.
