Today, the world woke up to a very disturbing video of a United Airlines passenger being bloodied and dragged off an overbooked flight

He might truly believe he's a doctor and he definitely *has* a doctor who likely specializes in psychiatry, but does anyone here honestly believe that EDP is a doctor? He sounded like he has the mental capacity of a 5 year old (which may explain why this unfolded the way it did).

Btw, speaking of a contract, the fine print on an airline ticket is written very favorably towards the airline. The contract say you get off if asked.
That's not exactly what I read in my airline ticket....which is an email nowadays.
I'm looking at the airline email ticket I have for a flight in a few weeks. Is a United "ticket" similar?
It's in light type and fine print at the bottom of the email. I never read it until now. It's not United btw, it's Jet Blue. JB seems to run a decent airline imho. Other than the seats being a size too small, I have no beefs with JB. lol
It talks about overbooking....but it specifically says that if there aren't enough volunteers you will be denied boarding.
Nowhere does it mention that once they seat you, you can be physically dragged out and assaulted.
Maybe United has a beat down clause, along with their if you wear leggings - that was last month - you can't fly clause. I've seen people fly nearly naked. I wouldn't fly in flip flops. Leggings, even on an employee pass is ridiculous.
NOTICE OF OVERBOOKING OF FLIGHTS Although JetBlue does not intentionally overbook its flights, there is a slight chance that a seat will not be available on a flight for which a person has a confirmed reservation. If the flight is overbooked, no one will be denied a seat until airline personnel first ask for volunteers willing to give up their reservation in exchange for compensation of the airline's choosing. If there are not enough volunteers, JetBlue will deny boarding to other persons in accordance with its particular boarding priority. With few exceptions, including failure to comply with JetBlue's check-in deadline (which are available upon request from JetBlue), persons denied boarding involuntarily are entitled to compensation. The complete rules for the payment of compensation and JetBlue's boarding priorities are available at all airport ticket counters and boarding locations. Some airlines do not apply these consumer protections to travel from some foreign countries, although other consumer protections may be available. Check with your airline or your travel agent.

He's a perp? A drug dealer?
Dr. Dao boarded an overbooked United Airlines Flight 3411 on April 9, 2017 with his wife from Chicago, Illinois to Louisville, Kentucky. The flight was scheduled at 5:40 PM.
United Airlines staff were looking for four passengers who would be willing to board their next flight to Louisville and would be gifted with $800 and an overnight stay at a hotel. Two people took the offer, but no one else budged.
Rather than raising the price further, the crew randomly selected two passengers. Using a computer, they selected Dr. Dao and wife. They were told to collect their belongings and vacate the aircraft. However, the Dr. Dao was not willing to leave, as he had patients to attend to the next day in New Orleans, Louisiana.
United Airlines called for the Aviation Police to remove him from the aircraft. One of the officers eventually grabbed him and forcibly removed him out of his seat. As this happened, Dr. Dao bumped into an armrest, busting his lip and causing injuries to his face. He was eventually dragged off the plane by his arms.

NOT only a civil issue. Its against federal law to disobey a flight crew. But its a civil matter now, a big one!

What a clusterfvck.
United's down today in the stock market....the shareholders will be pissed, it's stock will eventually recover, but this one will linger awhile. Public Relations disaster.....potential lawsuit jackpot lottery.
The cops or are they security....betcha they wished they took the day off.
The pilot is thinking he should've taken the FD test.
The United gate employees making this decision.....not worth the $15 an hr they get.
And last but not least the passenger....he's a convicted felon who lost his medical license and recently had it reinstated after a drug, prescription, sex matter.
Even if he was in the right...why bring the notoriety on yourself.
Anyway...In a few weeks, I just have to remember to take the little bottle of water JB gives you out of my backpack on the return trip or I have to do the TSA step aside dance again.. lol
